13. JAKUB

Daddy was supposed to make me feel comfortable and confident. I knew that, and now I knew why everyone was always talking about theirs on my comments section. I wanted to talk about mine too. Sure, this was all very new, but we had something special, I could feel it.

I made him coffee with my coffee machine and he made PopTarts for us to share. It was everything I’d imagined from having someone spend the night. All those nights wishing for someone to come and sweep me off my feet, but also to give me space had come true. I wanted to scream it from the rooftops, but only the ones in my imagination, I was still far too introverted to do that.

We hadn’t planned this, so Daddy had to redress in the clothes he’d worn yesterday.

“I know you don’t want to be away from any of your things,” he said, and I knew where this was leading. “But I’d love to show you my place. I can make you fresh pasta. It’s probably the only thing I can make fresh, and you’d also get to see my Christmas tree, you know, before you put yours up.”

He’d already had me at fresh pasta, but the Christmas tree was a bonus, and I was curious where he lived and what his space looked like. It probably wasn’t anything as nice as my place, there definitely wasn’t going to be a playroom, and I’d be surprised if there were any teddies there.

“Ok,” I said. “Tonight. I’ve got to adult mode and work.”

He gave me a hug and a kiss on the forehead. “If you need to take a break and be little, you have my permission,” he said. “Just remember to make time for yourself, and don’t be too hard, I’m the one that’ll be hard on you—in you, I—uh—you know what I mean.”

I giggled as he became flustered, and that was usually my job. Flirting wasn’t my strong skill, and that had been where Daddy excelled until right now. “I’m gonna miss you,” I grumbled, pressing my head against his chest. I enjoyed the white noise of listening to his heartbeat and breaths he took. “Is that weird to say? I’ve only known you a—” I tried counting on my fingers. “A few days.”

“It’s not weird at all. I’ll miss you as well, but you do have work to get on with,” he said, kissing me again. “So, no impromptu visits at work. I want you saving up all your energy and not getting stressed by going outside.”

I would’ve swooned, if I knew exactly what doing that meant. He really understood me. And that was important to me, even if I didn’t know how much he understood me until then. I thought I didn’t let people in, but it turned out I was actually fairly open under the right circumstances.

“Ok, I think I’m going to work on the ice rink set,” I told him.

Last night had filled me with ideas, from the ice rink and skating, to the story he’d told me as we laid in bed.
