2 Days Left – In the Distance

The thunder rolled across the hills. The clouds had been gathering for some time now, as the figure lay sleeping in his car. A mix of snow and rain had begun to slowly work its way down from the clouds, and pelted into the trees, on the hills, and onto the ground.

As a large crack of thunder exploded through the atmosphere, It rolled over. Huffing out with the breath, of a large, old animal, which was having difficulty moving its enormous mass, It huffed, as it shifted its weight and grabbed onto the trunk, of a nearby tree. Using the tree as leverage, It pulled itself up, stretching, to stand up to its full height. As It stood and stretched, its giant snout went up in the air, its nostrils flaring and shifting, inhaling giant globs of air, processing the 1000’s of smells. In amongst those smells, was the scent of that human. It could smell the sweat, and the oils, the stress and the decay of cells, that the human was exhausting.

This brought it immense joy. Knowing most of what this disgusting, vile creature was going through, was directly related to the beast, and made it feel fulfilled and mischievous, at the same time.

Again thunder rumbled, and this time it was followed quickly, by a massive flash of lightning. In that brief second of illumination, the creature was fully exposed, and knowing this vulnerable moment was upon it, it flung its giant arms out and up, and let out a blood curdling roar, causing all of the nearby animals, to retreat to their burrows and hide behind whatever outcropping of trees or dirt they could get behind. The roar was followed by another crack of thunder and flash of lightning, and again the beast let out a massive bellow.

It tilted its head up again, and its snout began processing information again. Temperature, wind speed, nearby predators and prey, and of course that mass of putrid flesh, the human. It estimated, that it would take about an hour, to arrive at the metal box the human was sleeping in, at full speed. It decided to take longer than that. It wasn’t going to go full out and deplete its energy for this useless piece of veal. It would take its time, continue to stalk him, keep growing that fear, that was festering currently deep in the useless human’s soul, and when the time was right, it would strike. It would grasp the bag of bones in its jaws, and as it crushed his torso, the abomination would grab his arms in one paw and grab his legs in its other paw, and rip him apart in one smooth, cartilage tearing moment. And as the pulsating blood dripped down its throat, It would let out a massive roar, and fling the torn apart appendages, as far away as it possibly could. And then It would raise its snout to the air. It would breathe in deep.
