Law

Raquel and I laid together with bottles of expensive wines with names twelve characters long, and half-smoked blunts all around us. I had my baby back, and that was all that mattered. Now that we were starting with a clean slate, I thought it would be time for me to tell her the truth and the rest of my plan, starting with Alastair’s death.

“Raquel...”

“Yeah?”

“Al didn’t lend us his boat.”

“I know.”

“You know?”

“This is a multimillion-dollar boat. He loves this thing. I don’t see him just lending it out to someone. There has to be a reason behind it.”

“There is.”

“What is it?”

“I killed him weeks ago.”

She sat up on her elbows and looked at me.

“You what?”

“He was moving shady, and I knew he was about to flip on me when all that shit got hot with me being arrested and the cops trying to pin that murder on me.”

Raquel sighed and locked her bottom lip underneath her two front teeth.

“I’m not going to ask, because for one, it doesn’t change anything now, and two, I just don’t want to know. I appreciate you telling me though.”

“I just feel like if we movin’ in the right direction, you needed to know.”

“I agree.”

“And I also think you need to know the rest of my plan.”

Raquel’s eyes widened as she looked at me and waited for me to finish what I’d started.

“At first, I thought all we needed to do was go after Darius and Dallas, you know? But the shit is deeper than that. You know that detective that kept coming after you, trying to get you to testify?”

“Yeah. What about him?”

“He’s first fuckin’ cousins with those Price niggas.”

“He’s what?” she yelled.

“So, I put a hit out on his ass. Got all my niggas on the lookout for him, and when I find him, I’m gon’ kill him, too.”

“Law, this is bigger than street shit. You’re talking about killing a member of law enforcement. I’m not trying to tell you what to do, but I’m just saying I don’t think it’s a good idea. Is there any other way around it?”

“I honestly don’t know right now,” I exhaled. “All I know is I’m not going to be done until every last one of my enemies is six-feet under. Then, I’ll wash my hands of all this shit.”
