Kel sped along the windy road going around the island, up through the Ko’olau mountain range, overlooking Waimea Valley as we headed closer to the North Shore. The car hugged the road as he raced around curves and hills at break-neck speeds. The surprised look on his face when I handed him the key fob for the BMW made my freakin’ week. He wore a smirk on his face as he tightly gripped the steering wheel.

I put the top down and the wind whipped through our hair, and the rock music blared from the speakers.

We’d been seeing each other regularly for two weeks now. Not all that long, considering we only saw each other a few days per week. Kel stayed the night with me again last night, and what a night it was. The more time I spent with him, the more I wanted him. These two weeks were like two months, if not more. If I’d been a smarter man, I would have negotiated a three-month dating arrangement.

No, if I were smart, I would have won him over in a more honest way.

Deep down, I knew I should spend more time with other men as I explored my sexuality, but I didn’t want to let Kel go. I’d been hooked on him like a caught Mahi Mahi on a fishing line since the first time we met. He was a drug I wasn’t afraid of getting addicted to. Well, there was a little fear. What if he didn’t feel the same towards me? Did he still see this as only a business arrangement? A job? I inwardly groaned. He probably did. At least he wasn’t professional like he was the first time we’d met. He was definitely looser, fun, and smiled and joked a lot. I definitely enjoyed Kel more than I did Damien, though both were equally sexy as hell.

Yes, I should explore, but I didn’t want to, and you couldn’t make me, dammit. What would Kel say if I asked him to keep seeing me when our time was up? Would he tell me no? Would he try to work out another deal? Nah, I didn’t think he’d be the type to ask for more. All I understood was I wanted to see more of him when the month was up, and it flew by faster than Kel’s driving. There was only one way to get what I wanted. I just hoped it worked.

That wasn’t the only thought that made my hands grow clammy the closer we got to our destination. I subtly rubbed them on my shorts so he wouldn’t notice. He was having too much fun. My nerves also stemmed from meeting his extended family. They weren’t his family biologically, but they were his family, nonetheless. He took care of them and practically raised them for years. They understood who and what I was now, and I realized they would see me as the enemy, trying to take away something and someone they loved. It would take a lot of work to build their trust.
