Chapter 12
Getting dressed after a burn is not a pleasant experience. True seriously thought about cutting out the back of his shirt. It didn’t matter though, he was wearing his cut regardless.
The nurse they had the day before was the one discharging him. She could barely look him in the eye. She went over the instructions, gave him some supplies, and rushed out of the room. They both laughed at her. He was glad to be going home to his own bed. He hadn’t heard anything from Chase except an “OK.” to the text he had sent him about coming home.
He had hoped to get home and recuperate a day or two before returning to work, but if Chase was in a tizzy, no recuperation. He loved him, and it was damn sure worth it to hold onto him, so it was what it was.
Pulling into the parking lot, it seemed oddly empty. “Must not be on lock down anymore.”
Shanna nodded at him. The lockdown hadn’t lasted long. Every club seemed to feel safer at their own clubhouse and since Los Brias was no longer a threat, the Presidents decided together to send everyone home.
Walking in, he sensed something, but he wasn’t sure what. Maybe because he was burned everyone was walking on pins and needles. He shrugged and headed to Devon’s office.
“Hey.” True smiled as he walked in.
“Hey yourself.” Devon smiled at his best friend.
“Where is everyone?”
“Hauser and Clarke are on a job. Should be back this afternoon. Tight Fit is being ran by almost all of the prospects so Chase can have some time off, and the rest are at Shanna’s. They are finally letting us start to rebuild.”
True nodded his head thoughtfully. “I will be ready to get back in rotation by the end of the week.”
Devon looked at him like he had three heads. “You just got out of the hospital. You are going to take it easy. For Christ’s sake, I don’t need Chase up my ass.”
True laughed at Devon’s choice of words. “I got burnt. I’m not dead. Seriously, I will go crazy sitting around.”
“I have a doctor who is willing to do a house call. In a few days if you want to go back to work, I will call him. If he clears you, you can work.”
True sighed. He knew he wasn’t going to win this. “Fine. But I’m the only one who knows my pain threshold. “
“I swear I am doing this for your own good.” Devon looked at him.
“Thanks dad.” True snorted.
Devon flipped him off then shooed him out of the office so he could work.
Shanna was in the common room talking to some of the other girls. They were talking about some new guy’s dick and how big it was. True laughed at them and shook his head.
He walked to his room. He didn’t expect Chase to be there but he was, laying naked on his bed. “Hey baby.”
“I missed you.” Chase said, stretching so True could see every inch of his athletic body.
