“Do you want to go to a gallery opening?”

Noah asked me and Jane during our lunch on a warm May day. Three of us were sitting on the grass in Central Park, takeout boxes in our hands.

“Again?” Jane groaned.

“I met this guy,” Noah said.

“Oh my god, you change them like a pair of gloves,” I exclaimed.

“Socks I’d say, I have my one and only favorite pair of gloves,” Noah said. “And yes, unlike you two, I have a vivid sex life, and you need to get rid of that pink toy you ordered online.” He nodded at me, my cheeks growing red.

“How do you know?” I asked.

Noah shrugged. “You forgot to hide it when I was at your place the last time.”

Jane sniggered.

“Oh, don’t you gloat, I know you have the same one,” Noah said.

Jane narrowed her eyes. “How do you even know that?”

“I know everything.”

“That toy does wonders, sometimes I think to hell with all the dating when they’re making such a great sex toys now.” She was looking directly at Noah, no shame in her voice, while my cheeks still burned.

“You’re impossible, you need to stop reading those dirty books, and get a life, both of you,” Noah said. “Anyway, I met this guy, he’s impossibly cute, and he’s a manager at the gallery. He invited me to the new collection opening on Thursday evening and there’ll be free champagne.”

“I’m in. I don’t have any plans anyway,” I said.

Jane looked at us. “You two or my pink friend?”

“That is insulting,” I laughed.

“Okay, I’ll go,” she said.
