As I said, I've drawn this horse on grey paper. Let's start with the eye and other black parts of the head.

The interesting thing about drawing on colored paper is that you can start from white or any other bright color, which is hardly visible when drawn on white paper. In this step I start to add white to his forehead and to outline his ears by drawing around them with a white pencil. I also mark the highlights around his nostrils. I use a piece of nylon to hold my hand in order to prevent smudging the paper.
