“Wait!”

Ansel turned when he saw Elijah running toward him. He had something clutched in his hand. “Glad I caught you before you left.”

Ansel really liked Elijah. The time they’d spent together yesterday had been fun. “What did you need?”

“I’ll be in the garage,” Liam said.

He loved the fact that his mate wasn’t hovering. Liam was giving them privacy, which made Ansel like him even more.

“The rest of the mates have one of these.” Elijah handed Ansel a watch. “It has a walkie-talkie feature that we use for fun, and to help keep an eye on each other.”

Ansel flipped the watch over, only to realize it was one of those fancy smart watches. He loved the dark red color. “I can’t accept this, Elijah. This is too expensive.”

Though he would love to have it. He’d never owned anything this pricey.

“Nonsense, honey boo.” Elijah pushed Ansel’s extended hand away. “Think of it as a necessity. Maybe it’ll come in handy. I’ve already programed everyone’s phone number into it and accepted the invitations for you to join our walkie-talkie group.”

It seemed the small wolf had thought of everything. “Are you sure?”

Elijah pulled something from his back pocket and handed it over. Ansel felt overwhelmed when he saw it was an iPhone. “You’ll need this in order for the watch to work.”

“No.” Now it was Ansel pushing Elijah’s hand away. “This is all too much. I can’t possibly accept these expensive gifts from you.”

The phone was another thing Ansel had been dying to own. His phone was a crappy one with minutes. He couldn’t even play simple games on it because it lagged so badly. It also didn’t have its own Wi-Fi. Ansel had to rely on public internet if he wanted to get online.

Elijah walked behind Ansel and shoved the phone into his back pocket. “We mates have to stay in touch. Too much crap goes on for us not to.”

“Like what?” Ansel’s heart raced. Did Elijah know about Roy? Had someone told him about the fight last night? God, Ansel felt so embarrassed.

“Like every mate who has walked through that door has had trouble following him. Phillip had his asshole coven leader trying to get him back. My mate had two demons after him. Shane, and his mate, Alejandro, had Alejandro’s brother after them. Nando’s father left him for dead, and Trey was in danger because an old foe came after Ben.”

Wow. Just…wow. Now Ansel didn’t feel so bad that Roy was after him. Well, he’d prefer Roy drop dead, but it seemed he wasn’t the only one who had trouble in their life.

“Whatever is going on, the pack will rally behind you.” Elijah placed a hand on Ansel’s shoulder. “We take care of our own, even little bunnies.”

Ansel smiled.

“Just watch out. Nando and Trey love talking on their watches. They’ll pull you into a ridiculous conversation. Phillip also gets bored. He’s a vampire, so going out during the day is impossible. He also has a newborn, so his life is already busy, but he loves staying in touch with everyone.
