Stopping at the grocery store, I picked up more baking supplies and what I’d need to prepare dinner. In the line, I heard two women talking.

“Murder? You must be making that up. Nobody’d want to kill Davis. He’s a perfect gentleman, always doing what he can to help with community. I can’t imagine how his daughter’s feeling.”

“I know what you mean. Only three months ago, his wife died of cancer. Now, the daughter will have to bury her father as well, bless her heart. So sad. I heard they think the murderer intended to kill Blake Buchanan.”

“It would be easier to find people with a motive for murder for Buchanan.”

“Starting with his wife…” She directed her attention to the cashier. “Thank you so much” Turning back to the other women, she smiled. “Wonderful to catch up with you. Keep me posted if you hear anything and I’ll do the same.”

The other woman nodded and continued to take her groceries out of her carriage. My turn was next and very quick.
