Nervously Josie bit her lip. “Mia, I’m not wearing a blind-fold. It’ll mess up my make-up.”

Mia hid a grin. “I sprayed fixer on so no smudging. I won’t tie it tight. Besides this date isn’t blind unless you wear it.”

“Mia, do I know him? Have I seen this guy before?”

“Uh, you’ve met that’s for sure.”

“Good. A stranger would’ve spiked my anxiety higher.”

“Oh, honey, anxiety and blind dates go together, don’tcha know.”

Another facet of Mia’s elaborate ruse – to get her into the limo for a drive around the property and dropped off back at Tara Malone. Another twist of the plan to ensure Josie didn’t easily guess her blind date’s identity.

Inside the car, Mia said, “You’ll dine privately. Otherwise, there’ll be a mob.”

“Thanks for that. With my face splashed on every website and newspaper I’ve lost any sense of anonymity.”

Fifteen minutes later, enough time to assume she’d been driven into the nearest small town, the limo pulled under Tara Malone’s huge stone portico.

Mia took Josie’s hand. “We’re here.”

A thunderstorm had swept in and heavy rain fell. Garden lights glittered with shiny droplets as pitter-pattering sounds soothed.

Silence encompassed and darkness for Josie wearing the blindfold. Trepidation invaded that dinner with a stranger might be terrifying. Would he only view her as a seer or as a woman also? Josie stepped gingerly from the limo with Mia tight at her side.

Once inside, succulent aromas wafted as Josie’s stomach gurgled loudly. Under the blindfold, her face reddened.

“At least you’re hungry,” Mia quipped with a friendly wink at a silent, jumpy Vulcan.

“High metabolism. I’m always hungry.”

“Girl, are you ready?”

“Yes. Is he here?”

A soft snort slipped out as Mia eyed Vee deliciously dressed up. “He is.” Goals achieved, she beamed with success because Josie hadn’t a clue about mystery guy.

Mia whispered, “After the door closes remove your blindfold. Have fun tonight, honey.”

Josie’s heart pounded out of her chest as Mia left.

Doubt throttled.

Wrong place, wrong time, wrong guy.

Whomever he was – he wouldn’t be the one. Deep steadying breaths did nothing to dispel a million fluttering misgivings.

Smothered by excitement, Vulcan’s focus landed on stunning breasts rising and falling too rapidly. Slightly parted cherry lips only made his out of control erection larger.

Her white pants appeared to be painted on and he appreciated every stroke of the brush showcasing her exquisite willowy legs. Slim waist hidden by a blousy blue shirt, he took note of the few strategically placed buttons. He couldn’t have done a better job himself.

Shit-kickers firmly planted and biceps tingling, Vulcan wanted to wrap arms around her and never let go. Thunderstruck at such uninvited thoughts and a bachelor for life, he intuitively sensed he may very well be incredibly ill-equipped to deal with the vast changes coming directly at him.

Hard. Fast. And, irreversible.

Senses heightened, she heard his tremulous breath. “Damn. You’re as nervous as me.” Steady silence continued until Josie untied the blindfold. Hoping her make-up hadn’t smeared, it lifted away and sea green eyes popped.

Vulcan Malone stood six feet away wearing a wholly tentative and lopsided sexy smirk.
