The mighty Untersberg forms the backdrop to this charming Alpine scene where the caption clearly indicates the new name of the hotel. On the right above the building stands a flagpole, unusually in this instance topped with a swastika; its very presence implies this image is probably post 1933.

This postcard shows the view towards the Reiteralpe from one of the guestrooms in the Platterhof prior to Bormann’s purchasing the property in 1937 and the subsequent clearing of many of the trees in the foreground.
