Simon Hay was amazed as that evening Lucy stood before him in her favourite dining-out red dress, her hair done and her face prettily cast with glittery make-up and pink lipstick that suited her to a tee. He had pulled on his brown jeans, an old shirt and a jacket: smart for him, but no match for the gorgeous blonde fiancée on his arm tonight.

“How do I look?”

“Amazing, but how do you feel?”

“Like I need the hair-of-the-dog and some food inside me. Come on, let’s go, Si.” She took his hand and pulled him into the hall to get their coats.

“What’s the rush?”

“I feel fine now and want to get to the restaurant while that still lasts, okay?” She giggled and pulled him down by the neck to warmly kiss him.

“What was that for?”

“I love you, Simon, that’s all.”

“I love you too, Luce.”

“Come on then, be a gentleman and fetch me coat.” She smiled widely and patted his bum for good measure as he fetched it off the peg on the wall.
