Stone
Stone knew that they needed to settle everything that happened between the two of them. He acted like an ass and even though he tried to apologize, he did a shitting job of it. And hiding away in his room really wasnât his finest moment. He was an idiot but there was something about Jo that made him lose his damn mind.
âI think that we need to talk,â he said.
âYou beat me to the punch,â Jolene breathed. âI agreeâwe need to talk.â
âLet me go first,â he said. âIâm sorry that I told my sisters that you were just my therapist,â he said. âI donât want you to be just my therapist, Jo. I liked kissing you in my kitchen.â He more than liked it. If he wasnât recovering from a gunshot wound, he would have carried her up to his bedroom and taken everything that she was willing to give to him and beg her for more.
âIf Iâm being honest, I liked kissing you too, Stone,â she admitted. Hearing her say that gave him so much damn hope. âBut it wasnât professional of me,â she insisted. He didnât give a fuck about professionalism.
âI donât care about that shit,â he growled. âIâd really love to throw our professional relationship out the window, but I still need your help so thatâs going to be impossible. Give me a chance though, Jolene,â he begged. He wasnât above begging her for more if that was what it took to get Jo in his bed.
âA chance at what?â she asked.
âA chance at us,â he whispered. Stone reached across the console and pulled her hand into his own. âI like you, Jo, and I want to do more than just kiss you in my kitchen.â
âBut your leg,â she interrupted.
âMy leg has nothing to do with what I want to do to you, honey. My leg will be just fine,â he assured. âSay yes, Jo,â he begged.
âI wonât make you any promises, Stone,â she said. âI know that this will be just a fling for you, but Iâve never done anything like that. Iâd like to try though, so, yes.â Hearing her call what he wanted from her âA flingâ pissed him off. Stone thought about correcting her but then thought better of it. If she was giving him a chance, he wouldnât fight about semantics right now. Heâd save that argument for later.
âTonight, when we get home, move into my room with me,â he said. He wasnât really asking her, but he hoped like hell that sheâd agree to his demand.
âAll right,â she said, âbut if this doesnât work out, Iâm moving back to the spare room. I wonât leave you until youâre ready.â
âHow long do I have?â he asked. He didnât want to put a time frame on what he was asking her for, but he needed to know what he was working with.
âWhat do you mean?â she asked.
âHow long do you think youâll have to stay with me?â he asked.
âOh, um, about two weeks,â she said.
