Deborah had been sitting in her office for the majority of the day. She had a light teaching day and normally she used these days as a way to get caught up on all of the marking or paperwork that she needed to do. And she certainly had a lot of it to get caught up on after spending three days with Lola in her office. Not that she didn’t love every second of it. To be able to spend three days with a smart little girl, it was like a dream come true to her. She wanted to spend more time with Lola. She wanted to teach her everything she knew so she could embrace her curiosity and learn while having fun. Deborah looked over at the picture she had placed on her desk, the one that Lola had made for her. She could see that, even at five, Lola had some natural talent when it came to drawing, something that should be cherished and nurtured. It warmed her heart to see the drawing and it would be a great addition to her office, especially on the days when she was feeling down or stressed. It was a little reminder of why she has always loved teaching.

Deborah had been trying to focus all day long on her work, but every chance she got, she found herself looking out of her window and across the office into Megan’s office. She couldn’t get that kiss out of her mind. She had no idea what had come over her. She never acted like that, on impulse and her basic dominant desires. Yes, she had when she was younger, but she wasn't young anymore, she knew better. If there was one thing she learnt from her failed marriage is that she needed to be in control. She had to have control and keep not only her partner at a distance, but her own feelings as well. She couldn’t allow herself to care about another woman again, she couldn’t go through that pain and heartache again. She refused to be vulnerable and she refused to let another woman hurt her like that again. Megan was messy, she was charming, she was a flirt and she was everything that Deborah had no interest in. Her ex-wife was much like herself. She was put together, well presented, educated and kept her emotions in check. Megan was the exact opposite of that. She was a wild child. She was messy, she lied to get a job, she had a child from a drunken mistake. She was everything that Deborah should be avoiding and yet her body was screaming for her. She wanted to make Megan hers. There was this primal need deep inside of her to claim Megan as her own and Deborah was having a hard time keeping that urge down.

It was the end of the day and everyone was packing up to leave. Deborah noticed that Megan was still sitting at her desk and was slowly putting things away.
