Cat That Counts

Americana, Brazil; Washington

48 HOURS LATER Jessy and Skeeter toured the city, they flew into Sao Paulo, then boarded a local bus to Americana, spend the night rest’n, now they were out and about tak’n in the sights. They had anticipated a small town what they encountered was a thriving city that teemed with activity.

“I wasn’t expecting this, I thought it would be some backwater settlement I’m impressed.” Skeeter Macklin said, they padded down Praca dos Americanos the main thoroughfare doing what tourists do. Jessy said, “I told you it would be exciting, maybe not your coveted Rio, it’s still quite enjoyable, so far the people have been very pleasant, not what you would encounter in Rio or Sao Paulo.”

“Maybe we should rent a car, make the rounds, checkout the rainforest,” he said, Jessy told him: “Settle down, let’s not get carried away here Marco Polo, the rainforest is definitely out of the question or anywhere else there are things that can eat you. I didn’t come here to be lunch for some animal I can’t even pronounce the name of.” Skeeter Macklin looked at wife said: “Jessy you’re too much, that’s why I love you so - speaking of lunch, hungry?”

“Well kind of, you know I’m eating for two,” she said rub’n her baby bump, “the one in the oven needs nourishment too.”

“Are you feeling okay?” She said: “I feel great - hey let’s check out the vendor across the street,” Skeeter came back: “This from the one who doesn’t want to be eaten by something she can’t pronounce but she’s willing to eat it?” Jessy chewed on that said, “Well maybe I can wait until there’s a more traditional restaurant around, I’m sure there’s one up ahead, monkey or other exotic critters are not on my menu today.”

They continued on, went in…out of shops, purchased souvenirs whatnots pressed on until they spotted a typical Brazilian style restaurant and strode in.

JUST THEN ROBIN Calhoun padded out of the Royal Palm Plaza Resort a 5 star fare about 20 miles from Americana. No matter where she went Robin Calhoun had to go 1st class nothing less would do, she had rented a convertible Gran Turismo to tool around in, the valet opened the door, she sized him up, smiled, handed him a 10 spot, held onto his hand a bit longer than necessary, climbed into the car moved off to Thomas Norris’ villa for lunch and discussions about the upcom’n festival 3 days hence.

She had the top down her Gianfranco Ferre sunglasses on. She was step’n out to be seen by every 1 with a pair of eyes, Robin Calhoun was a comely woman by any 1’s standard she loved to flaunt her looks, but a pretty face doesn’t make a pretty mind.

The sleek ride raced down the highway at a good clip she loved the warm sun bear’n down on her the wind blew her hair about. Robin Calhoun was in a happy zone, she anticipated 5 wonderful days here in South America away from the cold and the politics of Washington.
