Johnna Suihkonen says “What a Fire Weighs” is an interpretation—literal and metaphorical—of her experiences in the Northwoods of Minnesota. She has spent the last eight years living in Duluth and Ely, Minnesota. During this time, Lake Superior has been a continuous source of inspiration and the place where her soul resides. She is currently a middle school English Language Arts teacher in Ely. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys camping, hiking, photography, drawing, and writing (in many forms).
