Conjunctions - words like "because" and "while" that join parts of a sentence together - are discussed here, together with:

• numbers over 100

• the passive voice

• the present participle

• more about the imperative form

• the pluperfect ("I had spoken," etc.)

• using "depuis" ("since") and "venir de" ("to have just ... ")

Examples:

Nous avons achete une tente, car nous voulons faire du camping.

We have bought a tent, because we want to go camping. Ma mere n'aime pas les tentes, done nous avons achete une caravane.

My mother doesn't like tents, so we've bought

a trailer. Puisque tu es fatigue, nous pourrions camper ici.

Since you're tired, we could camp here. Pendant que tu vas chercher de l'eau potable, je vais monter la tente.

While you go and get some drinking water, I'll put up

the tent. C'est un bon camping, mais ou sont les toilettes?

It's a good campsite, but where are the bathrooms?

Note that you must use the future tense after quand, lorsque, des que, and aussitot que when the future is referred to:

Quand nous f erons du camping l'annee prochaine, toute la famille s'amusera bien.

When we go camping next year, the whole family will

have a good time. Aussitot que tu auras monte la tente, je preparerai a manger.

As soon as you have put up the tent, I'll prepare something to eat.

BUT not if "when" means "whenever":

Quand je suis en vacances, je depense toujours beaucoup d'argent.

When I'm on vacation, I always spend a lot of money.
