Sometimes the paper got it wrong. Item from the Moline Review Dispatch, April 12, 1889:

A dispatch from Duluth to the Chicago Herald says: “Fred Weyerhaeuser, the lumber king, is about to start a saw mill to employ 400 men, just outside of Superior, Wis. on Allouez Bay, the mouth of the Nemadji river. He owns every other section for many miles along the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha railway, and also 40,000,000 feet of pine along the Nemadji and tributaries.

(Note: There is no record of this mill ever opening.)
