Alive, Not Dead
"There's a strange phenomenon that we sometimes observe in which a deceased, love one appears to be breathing. It's only an illusion. But why does one man insist that his deceased wife is alive, and not dead? How far does this maddening thought persist?"
It's an interesting quote heard many times in life, particularly at the loss of a loved one. A simple phrase, "love is stronger than death" can be interpreted in many ways, and offers comfort to a mournful soul.
But in the case of romantic love there is a very, powerful force felt that needn't the comparison of death to be realized. It can be felt most strong in the early stages, particularly at the moment when a man and woman fall in love. Everything changes; nothing can stand in their way, and nothing can bring misery or sadness. As long as he has her and vice-versa, that's all that is necessary.
Its chemical I tell you; but I still believe in love with all my heart, just like you do. But after a few years of togetherness and the bliss of early marriage, the strong and powerful force goes away. Romantic love takes on a new meaning. And if you've been married for several years or more, hopefully you do what is necessary to maintain that powerful bond with your significant other. I've been married over 10 years and love my wife so dearly. But what I wouldn't give to go back to those early moments in love with her, the overpowering drug of intense chemistry and elation.

It was in these early moments of love with his wife that Patrick discovered the meaning of the phrase, "love is stronger than death". Only married 3 months and still in the bliss of honeymoon, he lay next to his wife, Bonnie, one Sunday morning.
"What time are your parents coming over?" Patrick was anticipating the arrival of his in-laws.
"They said about 10:30. I wish you could come with us, Patrick."
"I'd love to, but its cake season at the bakery. I make most of my money this time of year."
Patrick was the owner of a very, successful bakery. It was May which meant an overflow of cakes ordered for weddings, communions and graduations. There were certain times of the year when he simply couldn't leave the bakery alone to those who worked for him. He was a dedicated business owner, and it showed with the beautiful house and luxurious lifestyle that his wife, Bonnie, enjoyed.
Today, Patrick's in-laws would pick up his wife to drive out of state for a family wedding. The wedding wasn't until Saturday, but they had planned on staying and visiting with family. Although certainly invited and wished to attend, Patrick couldn't go. His business needed attention, and everyone understood.
"Hurry back! We need to work on that baby!" Needless to say his dear, wifeâs presence would be sorely missed as Patrick enjoyed the nightly attempts of creating their first child.
The bakery is open on Sundays, but Patrick usually takes the day off.
