Crispy Sweet Potatoes with Tiki Dressing & Sesame Seeds

Iâd rather walk across a bed of hot coals than eat sweet potatoes covered with brown sugar and marshmallows. But I became a convert the first time I tasted sweet potatoes with a savory spin, simply roasted with olive oil and salt. Grilled sweet potatoes are even better because the heat caramelizes their natural sugars and tempers that sweetness with an appealingly acrid edge. To balance and brighten flavors, I love dressing the crispy rounds with this spicy, gingery dressing (packed with so many Asian ingredients that David and I gave it a Trader Vicâsâstyle moniker), fresh cilantro, and crunchy toasted sesame seeds. To make this dish more substantial, serve the crispy potatoes warm or at room temperature over a bed of mixed greens, soba noodles, black Forbidden Rice, or quinoa.
