"So, that’s two of you with your balls in girl bags! Fuck sake, this is going from bad to worse." Walker swallowed his drink before grabbing the bottle and pouring himself another finger.
He offered the bottle around and all poured themselves another drink, except Harry who poured himself a double.
"As I was saying" Harry started "It just makes sense for us to fall back into rank and let our good friend Jenson Walker here take the leadership role, do we all agree?" He desperately needed this conversation back on track.
The six men all toasted, clinking glasses before necking the burning liquid and slamming their glasses onto the granite counter.
Jacks excused himself and walked into the large sitting room, took out his phone and dialled.
"Son, everything ok? " Ray Hunter as always answered almost immediately
"Dad, I think I have found a new pie for you to get your fingers into, but first I need to access some of my trust. Oh and your friend who runs the security group that you rave about so much, any chance we can set up a conference call?" Jacks waited, he knew his father would be mulling his words over carefully, Ray Hunter was nothing if not incredibly thorough.
"Ok son, you have my attention." Ray listened as Jacks pitched his proposal, the occasional 'aha, hmm, ok', by the end of the hour-long conversation, the foundation plans were laid and Jacks had his father’s approval to help Hannah and Harry.
He had the means, and he wasn't about to see friend and the woman he loved spend every penny they had keeping her alive when it was pocket change to him, wait, 'woman he loved' shit, where the hell did that come from. A sudden feeling of realisation coming over him, well I'll be damned. Jacks smiled to himself. Who was he kidding, he had been in love with her since before he met her.
As he walked back into the kitchen, there was just Harry and Jenson left, the others having retired to their rooms. Harry looked at his friend, the strain clearly showing on his face.
"Ok, made a couple of calls, Chris is gonna be here in a few hours to help keep an eye on the girls, and the cost of all equipment is covered, we just need to get things moving, we can set up a temporary HQ here, we have unlimited use of the place for as long as we need it, just don't steal the family silver."
Harry frowned as he listened "Hold up, come again, what do you mean costs are covered?"
"Just what I said, things have changed, this isn't just about keep your sister safe anymore Harry, this is about keeping my girl safe and I will do whatever it takes." Jacks knew Harry would object, his pride wouldn't allow him to take charity, Jacks also knew the renovations on the Bar would have all but cleaned the business account out and Harry would have to borrow to get the finances together to fund operation Hannah, they had Briggs to thank for that genius name.
