She decided to swim at midnight, alone under the stars to relax after a long, stressful day. At the end of her last lap, she surfaced and looked up at the shadowy figure standing at the end of the pool in jeans and boots.

“How long have you been standing there?” she asked Kelsey, her heart beating faster in anticipation.

“Fifteen laps.” Kelsey glanced at her watch. “Eight minutes. It’s late for a swim.”

“I like to swim when the pool is empty. Helps to avoid bumping into people, and being alone is…restful.”

“Do you want to be alone? In the pool?”

Was Kelsey asking to join her? God, she hoped so, or else she was about to make a fool of herself if she wasn’t. “Not if the option is you being in here with me.”

“What if I can’t swim?”

“Something tells me you can do anything you put your mind to.” Elizabeth waited for Kelsey to back off, to indicate she’d read the signals wrong. When Kelsey didn’t move, Elizabeth added, “Did you have something particular in mind?”

She sounded like she was sending an invitation, and she didn’t care. She was. She hadn’t really flirted with anyone in recent memory—not the playful, foreplay kind of flirting that left her giddy and wet. Wet with anticipation.

Her heart lurched when Kelsey turned away and then just as quickly skipped a beat when she heard the gate lock. Silently, she watched Kelsey return, toe off her boots, and unself-consciously strip off her shirt. Her breasts were perfect ovals, the nipples small and hard. “Last chance,” Kelsey murmured. “To be alone.”

“I’ve already done that tonight. Show me what you can do.”

Laughing, Kelsey dove in, her body a perfect curved blade, barely causing a ripple as she broke the surface and, a moment later, came up directly in front of Elizabeth.

Elizabeth gripped her shoulders and pulled her in for a kiss. She’d been living on the memory of that kiss for weeks and this was so, so much better. When Kelsey clasped her waist and pressed closer, their breasts melded, and she struggled to breathe.

“I knew you could do it.” Elizabeth brushed her lips along Kelsey’s jaw. Kelsey made a rough sound in her throat that made her clit ache.

“Swim?” Kelsey cupped Elizabeth’s breast beneath the surface of the water, her thumb flicking across Elizabeth’s nipple.
