Chapter 9
âHome sweet home,â Titus said after he, Leofric, and Darryl walked into a cave that they had managed to find less than thirty minutes after their final hunt for the day. âAt least for this evening.â
Leofric seemed annoyed and exhausted. Titus wasnât surprised, though. He was used to Leofricâs temperament. Leofric would always be cranky when he was tired, starving, and horny. Or a combination of any of those. Titus simply ignored Leofric. Instead, he focused on Darryl, who appeared to be in a much better mood than Leofric. He was certain that Darryl was just as weary as him or Leofric after roaming around the forest and hunting multiple times throughout the day, but the man was somehow capable of maintaining a more upbeat attitude. It had been a really productive day. They had succeeded in collecting much anasonite. A lot more than what they had been able to harvest on any of the previous days. The cave was near to the river. Somewhere around ten minutes away.
âNow that we know where the cave is, why donât we head to the river to clean up before coming back here for dinner and some much-needed rest?â Darryl suggested.
âSounds great to me,â Leofric agreed, and without waiting for a response, he quickly left the cave.
Titus sighed loudly as he followed Leofric at a much more sedate pace. Darryl was walking right next to him. âI love Leo like crazy, but he can be such a grumpy asshole sometimes.â
âAfter some food and a few hours of sleep, he will be fine in the morning.â
Titus grinned because Darryl obviously knew Leofric quite well by now. âDonât forget a round or two of sex.â
Even though Darryl laughed upon hearing that, he must have been embarrassed about something because his cheeks and parts of his neck reddened. âI bet. Just try to be a little quieter. Okay?â
Titus grinned at Darryl. âDid you eavesdrop on Leo and me going at it while we were at the palace?â
Darryl snorted. âYou and Leo were extremely enthusiastic. I was inside my bedroom, and I could catch every single filthy and nasty word that came out from your mouths, along with the grunting and moaning. The two of you must have been making up for lost time on the first night at the palace because you were at it for hours. You kept me up all night. The second evening was somewhat better.â
Titus was amused. âSorry about that. If Leo and I make too much noise later, just tell us to tone it down.â
Darryl huffed. âWill that even work?â
Titus shrugged. âProbably. Or you can simply make your way into our tent and join us.â
Then he winked when Darryl gaped at him, and he patiently waited for the manâs reaction. He was flirting openly with Darryl, and he hoped the man would get it. He was rather disappointed when Darryl simply chortled while averting his gaze.
âHa! Ha! Very funny.â
Titus smiled, but deep inside, he was more than a little frustrated.
