Major threats? Does that mean there are minor threats as well? If that’s the case, will they come one at a time? Ugh, there are still way too many questions.

[New Quest Generated: The King of Beasts]

[The King of Beasts: You have learned of the impending arrival of Gorraleck the Destroyer, the king of all beasts. Connected by a mysterious fate, you must face her in battle or risk the destruction of every human in this world.]

Glad to finally have at least a bit of direction, the humanoid beast’s answers left John with little more than questions. The biggest, however, was why he had mistaken John for a beast, and what he had meant when he told Ellie that she smelled strange. For the briefest of moments, John considered going through the barrier and beating the answer out of the beast’s mouth, but the thought was gone as soon as it came. He was a guest here, and it would be a bad look to beat up his host’s pets.

Turning, he pulled Ellie with him, and they joined Koeri and the overseer by the door. Both Mages were staring at John with strange looks that didn’t fade even as they passed through the thick doors on their way out. Not bothering with them, John spent his time organizing the little bit of information he had. As they left the beast pit, John stopped Koeri.

“Hold on for a moment. Ellie, can you go check on Merlin, Storm, and Ferdie? I’m going to talk to the tower masters and then I’ll be down. I plan on making this conversation short, and I’d like to get on the road as soon as I’m done.”

Staring at him, Ellie looked like she wanted to argue, but ultimately she just nodded. She didn’t want to separate from him, but he was about to walk into a potentially hostile discussion with not one, but three sages, and if a fight started, he would have no time to worry about her.

“Thank you. I’ll be back soon.”

Once he saw Ellie off, John followed Koeri up to the top of the tower, this time going to a large audience room. At the very top of the tower the floor of the room fell away for nearly a hundred feet, leaving a small bridge of stone that stretched out over the abyss. The bridge led to a floating platform where three smaller bridges extended to floating thrones. Sitting in the thrones were the three tower masters. To the left, Lady Orateth was still wearing her veil but lacked her attendants. She floated above her chair just as she had done when she spoke with John a few days ago.

On the right, a massive man with a red beard lounged in a metal throne, a shard of crimson metal spinning above his palm. Looking slightly bored, he played with the metal, reshaping it into all sorts of things as it turned. The robe he wore matched his bright hair and was adorned with hundreds of shining gems.
