Chapter Three

It was the day of the drop, and I had to go pick up Carlos’ sister, Maria around 4 pm. I still hadn’t spoke to her, so I had no idea what type of chick she was. I didn’t know if she was stuck up, rude, obnoxious or anything else. I was hoping she could hold a decent conversation, and not just sit in silence. We were around the same age so we should have some common interests. I wasn’t really into the whole meeting a new chick thing, but we didn’t have time to be enemies, we had to have each other’s back.

A red impala was in the driveway, so I knew I was at the right house. I parked by the mailbox because I didn’t want to pull in just in case somebody else was coming. The door opened, and a hand waved signaling me to wait a moment. I had butterflies as I thought to myself, is she cool, is she friendly? I had all types of questions running through my head. I received a text from bae asking had I picked up Maria. I text him back, yes, and we’re headed to Mexico, Lol. I liked joking with Sammie.

A knock on the window startled me. It was her. She wore a halter with her stomach out and ripped jeans. As she got in with her bag, she introduced herself.

“Hello! I’m Maria! And you are Colette, right?”

I nodded and grabbed her bag to place it in the back seat. She smelled good, and she wore her hair in a high bun. She had both arms fully tatted, and her neck was covered as well. I thought it was kind of sexy though because I always wanted to share my story through body art.

As we headed towards the freeway, Maria called her brother to let him know that we were in route. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but whatever it was she had to keep reassuring him that everything was going to be fine. She started speaking in Spanish as if I wouldn’t be able to understand. Little did she know I took Spanish in high school, and I was praying she didn’t get out of pocket. I wouldn’t want to bring her back with no damn teeth. She was telling him that I seem decent, and she would keep her eye on me. She also said I was fine as hell, and she might fuck me at a truck stop. Now ain’t that some shit? She was trying to smash while I’m focused on the cash. He only gave me a fourth of my money, and I wouldn’t receive the rest until we returned with the package. As she wrapped up the conversation with Carlos, I decided to turn on the radio.

“Oh, this is my shit!” She screamed.

It was Kevin Gates, ‘We supposed to be in love’ playing, and she turned it all the way up. I couldn’t help but laugh at her because she reminded me of myself.
