Ignoring the doorman’s surprise, Sam stormed into the Peacock. If Seb Stoker wouldn’t answer his bloody phone, then she’d stand in front of him.

Walking swiftly through the lobby, she headed straight for the staff corridor.

‘Excuse me, Miss Reynold!’ A male voice came from behind.

Ignoring the voice, Sam tugged at the gold door bar, her frustration rising to find it locked. She yanked at it, refusing to be stopped from telling Sebastian-bloody-Stoker what she thought of him overriding her by a mere door.

‘Miss Reynold,’ the voice repeated, this time more urgently.

Sam spun around, her chin jutting out defiantly. ‘I need to speak to Sebastian Stoker.’

The door to the corridor flew open from inside. ‘Samantha!’ Andrew exclaimed, his mouth forming a cold smile. ‘How nice to see you.’

‘I need to speak to Seb. It’s important.’

Andrew swallowed his resentment. Sam Reynold was demanding things again? The controlling little mare. What had happened this time? Perhaps she’d run out of face cream? Maybe Seb would disappear for another week helping her look for it? Getting a shag might snap him out of his shitty mood, but judging by the look on her face, he had no chance. ‘Seb’s busy, but I’m sure he’ll make time for you,’ he said, holding the door open. ‘He usually does…’

Sam entered the corridor, aware of Andrew following behind. ‘I won’t take up much of his time,’ she said, her tone clipped.

Andrew opened the door to Seb’s office. ‘You have a visitor.’

Seb nodded and waited for his brother to leave. No doubt he would get comments later, but for now, it didn’t matter. That Sam had come to apologise lifted his frustration and hurt over her words last night. That was until he saw her face.

Sam stood against the door, her attraction to Seb still at an all-time high. That she’d allowed his handsome face to dupe her and go against what had been agreed was unthinkable, but she couldn’t help it. ‘You’ve been doing deals with the Irish,’ she stated, her steady voice belying the inner tremble she always felt near him.

Folding his arms, Seb stood up. He wanted to kiss her, not argue. ‘And there was me thinking you’d come to apologise.’

Sam moved closer. ‘Don’t patronise me. You went against what was agreed.’

Seb sighed. No doubt Andrew was in earshot and loving this. ‘If you’ve come here to shout at me, then you won’t get far.’

‘I’ve always been against these kind of deals on my patches, yet you d…’

‘Your patches?’ Seb laughed, his green eyes flashing. ‘I’ll remind you they’re shared. That means mine,’ he prodded his chest with his finger and then pointed in Sam’s face, ‘as well as yours. That constitutes shared. And shared means exactly that!’

‘Shared doesn’t mean one side has monopoly over the other!’ Sam countered.

Seb snorted. ‘Len had the opinion over the Irish, not you.’

Sam’s mouth gaped. ‘You speak to me like I have no clue about anything, nor the right to my own opinion over my own business! Regardless of what you think, I seem to be doing okay without you!’ But she wasn’t.
