• A Colt government model .45-caliber automatic handgun in a holster, along with three ammunition clips. One clip was full, and the other two were partially empty. (Found in a green backpack on the driver’s seat.)

• A tan-colored Hampton Inn towel.

• A crumpled piece of white paper with scribbled directions to Markridge Road. (The paper had orange lettering on the top that read “Jim’s Auto Salvage, Sebring, Florida.”)

• A Rand McNally interstate regional map, folded open at Florida. There were two phone numbers jotted in the margin: 473-4180 and 448-7000.

• A shoe box from the Sports Authority that had once held a pair of black Magnum boots. The price sticker was on the side: $54.99.

• A receipt from the Sports Authority listing a purchase on November 6 of pants, camouflage mask, BDU top, camouflage T-shirt, and high-tech boots.

• A Tesa motel-room entry card (similar to those used at the Hampton Inn).

• A receipt from the Hampton Inn in Sarasota, Florida, for one night’s lodging for José Del Toro on November 6.

• A camouflage ski mask made of knitted khaki-and-orange material, a grotesque mask that revealed only the wearer’s eyes in a snakelike head.
