Virginia Gazette (Rind), September 13, 1770.

NEABSCO FURNACE, Nov. 10, 1770.

RAN away from on board the schooner Occoquan, near Hobb’s Hole, on Rappahannock River, about the 13th of October, a convict servant man named WILLIAM SIMMS, who professed himself to me a few days before, when I bought him from Mr. Thomas Hodge, on board the Scarsdale, to be a farmer or waggoner. He is about 5 feet 9 inches high, rather thin made, wears his own hair, which is of a brownish colour, though he says he was born in Scotland, but speaks pretty good English. Had on when he went away, only an old linen jacket with a large patch on the shoulder of it, a check shirt, light coloured stockings, an old hat, and shoes and buckles. Whoever apprehends the said servant, and so secures him that he may be had again, or delivers him to the Honourable John Tayloe, Esq; whose property he is, or to the subscriber at the Neabsco iron works, shall have a reward of 3 l. paid by THOMAS LAWSON.
