The cold weather chills me to the bone, but I don’t move. I have the target in my sights, and I plan on finishing this job tonight. “Of course, darling,” she responds, but she knows he will not see tomorrow morning.

Killing has become second nature to me. My father’s organization follows those who do bad things in good places. It’s how he justifies taking lives. Instead of arresting them, which can’t be done anyway, we walk in and ensure they can no longer hurt anyone else.

That may make you think my father is a good man. But he’s not. He has never been. Not after what he did one night that ruined the lives of four children. Four hearts torn, broken because my father wanted revenge. I hear the footfalls of my mark walking toward his bedroom. Their house sits on two floors. The second is where I’ll be heading soon enough.

“He’s gone. I’m scared,” the wife tells me as I enter the kitchen. Fear is present in her pretty blue eyes.

“Don’t be scared, sweetheart.” I lean in, allowing my lips to feather over the shell of her ear. The tremble that passes over her makes me smile. So fucking easy. “Tonight, you can ride my dick until you forget him,” I tell her, planting a kiss on her cheek. Turning, I head toward the staircase and take them one at a time. The door of the bedroom is open, and he’s already under the covers.

It doesn’t take long for me to reach the asshole. Lifting the blade, I smile, knowing I’ll watch the life drain from the eyes of a man who thinks little kids are better than his wife. The revulsion shudders through me, and I pull the blankets from his form.

His eyes snap open. The fear in them only serves to make me chuckle.

“Who the fuck are you?” I don’t respond. Instead, I press the sleek, silver blade to his forehead. “Heather!” he screams for his wife, but she won’t come. She’ll hide until I’ve ensured the fucker is dead.

Trailing the sharp tip of the blade from his forehead down over his nose, I watch the dark liquid which reminds me of a Cabernet trickle from the wound.
