Chapter Fourteen
Jeremy
As soon as that door clicked shut, his courage evaporated.
Jeremy flopped down on his back on the bed and a moment later sat up and took off his shoes. âI feel ridiculous.â
âWhat do you mean?â Quin took a step backward. Only a small one, but it still sent Jeremy into a near panic state.
âItâs been a long time.â He laughed nervously. The laugh sounded horribleâeven worse than how fast he shot out that sentence. How must it sound to Quin? Hope he doesnât think Iâm lying. âHave I forgotten how to do this?â
Quin relaxed and sat beside him on the bed. When he reached out and ran a fingertip along Jeremyâs jawline, it finally became real.
Quin is alive and here with me.
He came for me.
For the first time in fifteen years Jeremy wasnât the one making an overture, wasnât the one putting himself out there and risking rejection in the hopes of connecting with someone. The fact that it was the love of his life who had been the one to break that unlucky streak seemed especially wonderful.
Jeremy leaned forward slowly and touched his lips to Quinâs. Heâd meant to kiss him sweetly but desire won out and it was all he could do not to crush Quinâs mouth under his own. He tried to ease up, to at least get back in the neighborhood of gentle, but Quin grasped the back of his neck and wouldnât allow it. Quinâs tongue slid into Jeremyâs mouth and with its first sweep across his tongue any resistance Jeremy might have hadâany urge to control the way things were happeningâdisappeared. He opened himself fully and gave himself over to Quin.
Before he was able to think around the kiss, Quin pulled back and yanked his t-shirt off over his head. Jeremy shouldnât have been surprised that he took good care of himself, but he was. A little. Never would Jeremy have expected Quin to have a low-key gym body. Not a six-pack, not exactly, but more muscle tone and definition than was visible through his clothes. While he was busy cataloging all of those lovely muscles Quin pulled Jeremyâs shirt off as well.
âOhâ¦â Quin ran his palm over Jeremyâs chest and down across his abs. âYouâ¦youâre soâ¦oh my god.â
Quin pushed Jeremy down on his back and crawled on top of him to press their chests together. When Quinâs body came to rest on top of his, Jeremy realized how hard he was. A low moan escaped before he could keep it in. Quin seemed to like it, though, he pressed closer to Jeremy and kissed his neck.
Since Quin had gotten rid of their shirts, Jeremy thought it was only fair if he do the same for their pants. His fingers shook but as soon as Quin rolled off him and onto his side Jeremy made quick work of his fly.
The sensation that enveloped him when a completely nude Quin climbed back onto his own bare skin reminded Jeremy of plunging into freezing waterâshocking and exhilarating and just plain amazing.
