Recipe 10: Bacon Flavored Dumplings
To the dumpling batter you can add a bundle of flavors, like the one presented below.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Serving Size: 8 servings
Ingredients:
2 cups of plain flour
2 slices of bacon
1tsp of dried parsley
1 ½tbsp of baking powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 eggs
¼cup of milk
1quart of vegetable broth
Method:
1. Cook bacon in a skillet until evenly browned; drain, crumble, keep aside and reserve the fat for later.
2. Pour the broth in a deep pan and place it on stove for boiling.
3. Sift flour with salt and baking powder into a large bowl; stir in pepper and parsley as well.
4. Beat eggs in a measuring cup and add enough milk to bring the mixture to the level of ½ cup.
5. Add egg mixture and reserved fat into the flour mixture and mix everything together with a fork.
6. If the mixture appears to be too dry, add more milk and then add in the bacon.
7. Drop spoonful of dough into the boiling broth and cook for 12 minutes, covered.
