CHAPTER NINE

When she woke that next morning, the water had washed everything clean and Coda felt like a million bucks twice over. The shower was still running, a low pressure, cold-as-ever drizzle. She stood, shivering, and rubbed on some soap and rinsed and then stepped from the shower, and already she’d noticed daylight creeping in through the windows.

Early morning, she thought.

Minutes later she’d made some wheat toast with Vegemite and settled at her laptop, memories of the night playing in her head. She logged on and got to work.
