Chapter 8

The Infection

The next few days, the pain in my hand proceeded to get worse. I tried to keep it clean and Victor tried to keep the bandages stocked, but the blisters started oozing and popping and soon an infection set in. It started out as my hand was warm to the touch and my whole hand was swollen. I told Victor I thought it was festering but he said we just had to keep trying to stop it from getting worse. I noticed red lines starting to travel up my arm and I developed a fever.

“Victor, I think something is wrong.” I told him while panting.

“I need to get you to the hospital, I can't lose you.” He exclaimed.

He grabbed the keys and then grabbed my throat.

“Don’t you say ANYTHING to ANYONE about how this happened. Definitely do NOT tell anyone who you are. We will come up with a name.”
