Chapter 7

The next day was pretty easy going. I got up early to make Janet breakfast in bed. She loved when I made her favorite chocolate chip waffles with powdered sugar and warm syrup. I also made her some sausage and bacon. I always cut up some fruit and gave her some fresh squeezed orange juice. As I was cooking, there was a knock at the back door. I was a bit alarmed because not many people would walk all the way around this big house just to get to the back door. I opened the door and it was a little girl dressed in a green skirt, white button up shirt and a green sash with patches along the length of it.

“Good morning Mister. My name is Ayanna and I’m from Troop 997 and I would like to know if you would like to buy a box of Girl Scout cookies.” She said politely.

She was so adorable, how could I resist.

“Yes, sure how much is each box and do you have Thin Mint and shortbread?”

“Yes, I do sir and they’re four dollars a box.” She said.

“My goodness, the price for these cookies constantly go up! But I love supporting the kids, so I’ll buy six boxes and three each.” I said smiling at the child. She was so cute in her uniform. When I finally have children, they’re going to be involved in everything.

They won’t have time for anything else. I handed her $36 and she gave me my six boxes of cookies from her wagon she had behind her. As she started to walk away, I saw her give a thumbs up to someone on the other side of my lawn. I just had to laugh, it was cute. I closed the door so that I could finish preparing breakfast for Janet. I guess I was moving to slow because she was already walking into the kitchen.

“Good morning. It smells great in here.” She said.

“Good morning babe, I got something for you.” I said while kissing her on her cheek.

“Oh really now.” She smiled.

“Yeah, your favorites: chocolate chip waffles, sausage, bacon and fresh orange juice just how you like it.” I said while placing the plate in front of her.

“Oh yeah, I have a surprise for you. A cute little girl came by this morning. She was selling Girl Scout cookies. I got our favorites, Thin Mints and Shortbread. We can have those with some ice cream later.” I said.

“Damn, it’s that time of year already? It came back around quick didn’t it?” She said while chewing a mouth full of waffles.

“Yeah, I was thinking, do you wanna go out for dinner tonight? I was feeling like Japanese. Let’s hit the Hibachi on the Boulevard. I could go for some sushi.

“Sounds like a plan. I’m going to my yoga class when I get done eating and showering.” She said.

“Ok cool. I’m gonna catch up on these video games. Mark and Troy told me the PlayStation 4 is hot. So I gotta go get that.
