Chapter Six

Amir watched as someone pulled up to Gage’s home. Amrath was going to love the fact that Gage had mated. Amir had peeked inside the window, had seen them having sex, and had heard their conversation.

Gage had definitely mated.

His father, Dravon, was going to shit bricks, too. Amir had no idea why Dravon hated his son so much, but maybe Amir could profit from this. He just had to figure out how. Would Dravon pay Amir to kill the shifter?

No, not when Gage would be captured and killed for his crimes. It wouldn’t matter if Gage had a mate. The pieces were all there. Amir just had to figure out how to put them together.

Interestingly enough, Amir saw the magic that surrounded Gage’s home. Not just the spells that were in place to keep the guy hidden from Amrath but the actual spells that had made the shack a home. It was still a shack, but an illusion surrounded it, making it seem like a quaint little cottage.

He’d seen inside, and the illusion had spread throughout the interior as well. Not many fairies could keep up that illusion for so long, with such detail, and admittedly, Amir was impressed. That only told him that Gage was much more powerful than anyone had let on.

But Amir was powerful in his own right. He just couldn’t go in there and take Gage, though he wanted to. He was to observe. Observation was boring work, but those were Amir’s orders, and he always followed orders.
