Chapter 19
Morgan woke up panting. She was having another bad dream, but when she reached out, she felt Sawyer’s muscular arm. She knew that he was beside her, and that he wouldn’t hurt her.
At least, he wouldn’t hurt her like the others had. He was softly snoring in that way he did. It was sort of funny. He made two typical snores followed by one long puff of air.
When she heard him snoring, she felt safe. At least, she felt safer with him than she had ever felt before with a man. That was saying a lot for her. She was slowly learning to trust him. She had been with him for a few months and she was getting used to him.
He liked certain things that made her feel unsure, but her body was clear that she liked it too. Her body longed for his. Her panties got wet when he spoke to her in his deep voice. He had a way to control her and to make her eager to please him. She loved it when he played with her.
They had gotten to the point that they weren’t making love every night, but they did most nights. He always kept it interesting.
She closed her eyes and snuggled in beside him again. They had an early start in the morning.

Morgan stepped into the kitchen and read off the orders to Sawyer. “You got that, Master. No onions. The lady looked as if she would throw a fit if she saw an onion anywhere near her plate.”
“I heard you, darling.” Sawyer beamed at her. She was doing so well now. The truth was that she wasn’t a fast learner. It had taken her a long time to learn how to be a good waitress. She had proved to be helpless and hopeless in the kitchen. He was trying to teach her how to cook when things were slow. He felt everyone should know how to cook. How had she been able to go through life only knowing how to fry eggs?
Morgan disappear back out to the customers. The truck stop was busier than normal because of Christmas. People were trying to get home to their families. The roads were jammed up, and people came to the truck stop looking for a chance to use the bathroom and eat a warm meal.
Morgan had commented that it was hardly cold out. Wherever she came from, it was colder there.
Sawyer hated himself for it, but he still couldn’t stop himself. They’d been together for a year, and he bore the responsibility of loving someone who suffered from depression. He always had an eye on her, and she obeyed him. There had been moments when he’d felt that they had made it, that he had saved her, but then something would happen, and it would be clear that he hadn’t been able to help her heal. The slightest thing could push her backwards.
The good thing about her was that she never complained about doing the same things every day.
