Barb was like a little kid staring at the big brick buildings covered with ivy, as they drove through the UW campus. “It’s so beautiful!”

“You’ll love the view of Drumheller Fountain,” Bill assured her as he parked the car.

When they reached the steps and looked down at the fountain, stately Mt. Rainier was in the background. “If you stand just right, it looks like Mt. Rainier is sitting atop the spray,” Bill pointed out leading her down the steps to the fountain.

Barb stood motionless taking in the scene: Mt. Rainier atop the fountain’s spray, students sitting on the edge of the fountain cooling their feet in the water, the nearby rose gardens. “This is such a pretty campus!”

“Wanna walk through the campus a bit?” asked Bill after several minutes.

“Yes! I can’t wait to tell Teri how beautiful this campus is. It makes me want to go to college here.”

“Well, you can if you want to badly enough.”

“Yeah right. Not with my smarts. And there’s no way I could afford it,” Barb said looking down. “But right now…I just want to enjoy this,” she added quickly as she looked up at the surrounding brick buildings.

When they returned to the car, Barb turned to him and kissed him tenderly. “I’ll always have this memory of us here in this gorgeous place,” she murmured. “Thank you!”

“You’re welcome. I knew you’d love seeing this campus. On the way back to Rod’s, I’ll drive you by some of the frat houses and the sororities. They’ll make you really want to come here for school.”

“Oh my gosh!” Barb blurted staring at the big, impressive homes and the bare-chested guys tossing a Frisbee in front of one of the fraternities. A live rock band played on the balcony of another frat.

“Rod tells me that some studying actually does occur at this place once in awhile,” joked Bill turning right on a side street that took them back to Rod’s.
