‘The System has placed us here, by the fall and the flame. This man has been punished. This man has suffered the System’s justice. Now, let me heal him.’

‘You have no place here, priest.’ Mooney spat.

‘The law is clear. Justice has been dealt.’ Sturt said.

Mooney’s grip tightened on the whip. ‘I will decide that.’

The crowd rumbled, a deep, unified growl. Mooney and his two guards glanced at the hundreds of miners surrounding them. Mooney's other hand rested on his sword.

A piece of damper flew from the crowd, striking Mooney on the chest. ‘Who threw tha…’ A billycan struck his arm, clanging off to hit the ground.

Stones followed, then dirt, tools, and cutlery. Mooney and his thugs raised their arms to shield themselves.

‘Do we go? Is it time?’ Breakwater asked.

Jamie put a hand on Keat’s arm. ‘Too early. We need more time.’

Mooney whipped a scroll up in front of himself and triggered a black and red thread of mana.

The scroll burned in the air and blasted a shockwave of mana out, knocking the crowd to their knees.
