Chapter 35

The 1990s have been insane for wealth generation. My internet stocks are worth $40–50 billion and I know they will be worth much more in the future. The crash that is going to happen in 2008 and 2009 will hurt my internet positions, but I am the majority stockholder of both of these companies so it would be impractical to divest. The comforting side is I know I will lose 50% in value or $20–30 billion, but I know that in ten years the position will be worth $100 billion.

One thing about knowing the future. Income generation is easy. I wonder how I would have done with picking the right place to buy real estate or the perfect stock to invest in without foreknowledge. Well, I know a lot of very wealthy people and it seems like lightning strikes once. The people do well in one investment and give it back on other losers or they make a small fortune by building and selling a company but lose it on the next venture. It's weird, what I am doing is gambling for pennies but making billions. There is no excitement or pleasure just money.

What has sucked is knowing the outcome of sports, news and elections. Add there is no thrill of income generation. There has to be something else. Yes, there is. I am to be born soon and I have to figure out the timing of conception and start working on my health.

I went upstairs from my lab to talk to my wife about having a baby. She said, “A baby, are you out of your mind? I am over forty years old.”

I pleaded, “Hun, people live much longer and are healthier at later ages. What will be our legacy? Who will inherit?”

“We should have had kids twenty years ago. I was ready but you were not. My body and eggs were young. Now I am tired and the chance of genetic issue with a child has skyrocketed. Plus, honestly, I am not that into you. I don’t want to bring a child into this world that may have birth defects coupled with a high probability that we divorce.” Huh, what?! Not that into me? Divorce?

“Honey, we should talk about this. I love you and want to have children with you.” Shit. I need to have a child. I need to have me!

“Stop whining. You are such a bitch. Are you even capable of having children and what sack of potatoes would even want to have them with you?”

Two decades of anger comes out and I slap her hard against her face. She recoils and says, “How dare you?” I can see the Mistress Ka coming out and she appears to like the challenge. I push her to the ground and hold her down with my knee on her chest. The whole time she is screaming bloody murder. I could have just fucked her there, but I wanted to make a point. I grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the other room.
