The following morning is awkward as fuck. I kind of hoped it wouldn’t be, but at the same time, I expected it. Glykoran and I… well, we both know what we want, but we’re both hesitant to take the next step. I don’t want to push him. If I do, there’s a chance I could push him too far and he needs to work through his pain and guilt on his own time. I’m willing to be patient. I have no idea what he’s going through, so the best I can offer is to be understanding.

So, despite Glykoran’s protests, I manage to set him free from my grasp. Every pore in my body calls for him, but I know he needs space and time to think. Last night was a huge step when he admitted how attracted he was to me. There’s no reason to sit around staring at him and waiting to see if he’ll pounce. Besides…

“A lot of the girls count on me to help them watch over the little ones,” I say when Glykoran stands from the bed. God, he looks incredible. Bedhead and all, he’s like an Adonis statue that I want to lick from head to toe… pausing only to pay attention to some exceptionally smooth and sexy spots. “Sloane is exhausted from the twins. I should go down there to free up at least one of her tits—err, arms, I mean.” I smile tentatively, but he’s not buying it. I shuffle away from his lair before he manages to pull me back into bed with him, and both of us lose control before we’re ready.

After relieving myself and grabbing a spinach vinegar bar, I find York, Ellis, and Layla in the Gathering Room alone with Rhyan, Krista, the workout twins, Chocal, and Lacey. They seem surprised to see me, but I’m kind of disappointed that the very reason I left Glykoran’s arms isn’t even in here. Kyeth waddles up, and I scoop her into my arms.

“Where’s Sloane?” I ask.

“Still sleeping,” Krista says. “Exer’s not letting her leave the lair until she lays in that bed for a full eight hours, only leaving to piss or feed the twins.” She spares me a smile. “How are you? We heard where you spent the night.”

“Yeah,” Ellis says, nodding in approval as Junis bats slowly at her knees.

“Better watch out,” Chocal, the newest arrival to our set up on Hethdiss notes before I can get a word in. He’s what the Sidyths call an outsider because while accepting his initial exile, he didn’t agree with Prince Korben’s ideals and left the foremost gathering of males. Which I suppose means there are more Sidyths roaming around. It’s an incredibly unsettling thought, but not nearly as surprising as Chocal’s words. He stares at me, seated pretty close to Lacey which is odd considering how much she hates everyone except Sloane, and frowns.

“What are you talking about?” Ellis snaps.

Chocal shrugs. “I’m only saying for her to be careful. She’s not officially mated, yes? He didn’t Choose you?”

For some reason, I blush.
