CHAPTER EIGHT
GABRIEL
It was almost sundown by the time we finally returned to the marina. I attempted to help Cade park the boat⦠tie off? Anchor?⦠make sure it doesnât float away. Whatever itâs called. I donât know, do I look like a sailor? I donât need to know all the lingo to let my own personal gladiator ferry me around on his yacht and feed me grapes while sexing me into a cock coma.
If I had my way, we would have spent another night out there before coming back to the real world. When we finally get back on solid ground, looking at my phone brings me right back down to earth from the high of the last twenty-four hours. I donât have merely a couple of missed calls and texts. Oh, no. Miss Dee, Almighty Queen of the Overdramatic, has called 57 times and texted a conservative 127 times. This is what I get for leaving the most melodramatic attention whore on the planet alone for the night. You would think a grown-ass woman would have something better to do than harass her best friend, who is on a date that SHE SET UP.
Iâm just pulling up her contact and ready to dial her when Cade comes up behind me, snaking an arm around my waist and pressing a kiss to the back of my neck.
âYou know, if you keep mouthing my neck like that, Iâm going to think youâre half obsessed with me already,â I tease, leaning into his hold. Iâm really only half kidding. The man canât seem to keep his lips off my neck and shoulders. He hums contentedly against my skin, nipping gently.
âNothinâ half about it, baby shark,â he mumbles, pressing a kiss to my cheek. âBut come on, weâre gonna be late.â His hand slips from my waist as he steps around me but quickly finds my hand, our fingers automatically tangling together like weâve done it a thousand times, and he tugs me after him down the dock and toward his car.
âLate? Where are we going? I really should call Dee. Sheâs having an unholy conniption fit,â I say, not bothering to disguise my exasperation as my phone buzzes yet again.
âLeave her be. Weâre not late⦠yet,â Cade says cryptically as he opens the passenger side door for me, waiting for me to climb in.
âYou clearly have never met the woman. There is no âletting her beâ⦠sheâs more terrifying than a Real Housewife at a sample sale.â
âWell, see, now I know youâre exaggerating. The Duchess would never be caught dead at a sample sale,â Cade says, climbing into the driverâs side with a wink.
âSweet baby Jeebus and all that is holy⦠he has the Dream Dickâtrademark pendingâand he knows housewives?!â I gasp, pressing the back of my hand to my forehead in a full-on Scarlett OâHara swoon.
âTrademark pending, huh?â
âShut up. Itâs my soul mate. It must be protected,â I sniff.
âProtected against all that horrible dick plagiarism. Uh-huh,â he deadpans.
âCock pirates are a very real threat, thank you very much!â I screech indignantly.
