I decided not to mention the sigil on his front porch. There were no other sigils visible, so some other factor might be in play. It was best to let this one play out and see where it led. Maybe Fate had a reason for leading me here after all.

Elton sat on the front porch of the house, a beer in his hand. He stood and walked over to meet us. "You have the down payment?"

I gave him a bag with twenty-five percent of the total in it. "Yep."

"Good. Let's get started."

"If you're into shady business like this, why do you work at a racetrack?" Hannah said.

Elton took the bag and smiled. "Because this kind of work doesn't come along all that often. I need something regular to pay the bills."

"And yet you've got solar panels on your hangar, a well head on the side of the house along with a septic tank, and a private cell tower in your back yard." I shrugged. "Looks like you don't have many bills to pay."

"Oh, I got bills to pay." He opened his front door and put the money bag inside. "Want a beer?"

"Sure," Hannah said.

I nodded.

Elton went inside and returned with beers for all of us.

Hannah grinned. "Wow, I wasn't expecting one."

He shrugged. "You're with someone like Cain, so I imagine you're emotionally old enough to drink."

She laughed. "You can say that again."

Elton headed toward the aircraft hangar and slid open the tall metal doors. He flicked a switch and the overhead lights clicked on in sequence. I'd suspected what might be inside but was still surprised to see no less than four aircraft inside. I only vaguely knew the kinds of planes these were. One was a single propeller Cessna, another a two-prop small cargo hauler. The third was a small helicopter, and the fourth was a corporate jet.

"How in the world did you fit all this in here?" Hannah's mouth dropped open. "And how much money did all this cost?"

"Minimal cost. My former line of work allowed me to acquire some very expensive hardware."

"Impressive." I walked around the jet. "Well, you certainly have the equipment needed to help me get the job done."

"Yep." Elton leaned against one of the metal doors. "The fuel costs are what kill me. Thankfully, we can practice with the dual prop hauler. The Eclipse jet will be the one for the actual job."

Hannah blinked. "Did you say Eclipse jet?"

He nodded toward the jet at the back of the hangar. "Yep. Eclipse Five-Fifty. It's small, but it gets the job done. And it's much less noticeable to fly a jet over the city. People tend to look up when they hear a prop-driven plane overhead."

Hannah grinned and turned to me. "An Eclipse for Eclipse. This feels right." She sipped her beer and grimaced. "Ugh, this tastes awful."

Elton laughed. "It's an acquired taste."

I walked around the cargo hauler. It looked plenty spacious for what we needed to do. "I'm ready to get started."

"Great." Elton grabbed one of several backpacks hanging from a rack.
