THE FAMILY IN LATER LIFE

As a result of the move to Windsor, Henry senior opened both a store and a brewery in association with a new business partner. While his affluence and business success had been dented by the various debacles in Sydney, he remained comparatively wealthy by Australian standards.

Henry lost his ever-loyal wife Susannah on 6 November 1825 at the age of 63. He went on to survive her by some years, eventually passing away on 16 March 1846, aged 84. His eldest son, Henry, who never married, died six years later at the age of 66. All of the family were buried in a vault behind St Matthew’s church in Windsor.
