Chapter Fourteen

"Wow, I can't believe you go through so much work just to meet up with friends," Sawyer grinned, looking across the back of the limo at Amy.

"When you get photographed as much as I do, you find that the 'work' as you call it is much better than the results when the paparazzi gets a bad picture of you," Amy winked. "Besides, I like looking good. It makes me feel good."

Sawyer looked down at her own attire, which was composed of gray suit pants, a button-up shirt, and a matching suit jacket that Amy had picked out for her. She felt more out of her element than she ever had before, and the thought that she had to get dressed up and spend hours getting ready just to meet Amy's friends made her nervous about the dinner that they were on their way to attend. She had never before had to go through so much work, and any other time that she had dinner with a friend, it was easy and comfortable. Nevertheless, as far as she had witnessed, nothing in Amy's world was that simple.

Upon first meeting the other woman, she had noticed that there was not a crowd or even a person with a camera following her around, but that quickly changed. Tonight, when they exited the hotel, they were escorted out by security and immediately surrounded by a group of people with cameras and questions. News had spread through the city that Amy Mitchell was filming a movie, and somehow, people had gotten the address of the hotel that she was staying at. Now, there was no chance of a peaceful rendezvous without having the potential of having to fight through a crowd or get escorted by security. There was not anything private about the situation, and the moments that Sawyer looked forward to were those that were spent in Amy's hotel room as those were the only moments that they could be alone.

The limo lurched in front of the restaurant, and a group of security guards met them at the door. Sawyer got out, holding out her hand to assist Amy, and the two made it through the luxurious front doors of the beautiful steakhouse, holding their smiles and trying their best to avoid questions from the bystanders that already had made it there with their cameras. "Does this happen everywhere you go?" Sawyer muttered under her breath, looking over at Amy's calm expression.

"Yes," Amy said, simply as they walked up to the hostess. "You get used to it after a while."

"I see," Sawyer replied, thinking about the woman's words, but she was not sure that she would ever get used to people getting up in her face every chance that they got. She had grown up in a small town, and though everyone might know most of your business, you were not usually followed around. She had gotten used to her moments of silence. Those moments helped her gather her thoughts, but as of late, she had not gotten much time to herself.
