FOR JAMIE, IT WAS LIKE jumping off a cliff without a parachute, golden or otherwise. They managed to get back to his apartment, a tangle of arms and mouths. Every time that rational thought filtered into her brain, Andrew banished it with a kiss or a touch of hot hands.

He backed her against the door as if he wasn’t going to let her go—ever. Silly man. She wasn’t going anywhere while his mouth was feasting on hers, tongues tangling. No, she wasn’t going anywhere. Not now that she’d come this far.

His hands moved under her blouse, under her skirt, restless, demanding, and Jamie, never a passive one either, worked at his clothes, too. She wanted to see him, feel his skin against hers. The wait had been too long. Seven days and it seemed like forever.

A storm of emotions whirled inside her, lust, desire, passion and something else. Some nameless tenderness that she wasn’t about to worry about now.

The path from the entryway to the bedroom was littered with clothes, one condom wrapper, and the remains of Jamie’s sanity. For the moment she was flying high on the taste and smell of Andrew—Andrew of no last name, because sanity could be easily reclaimed with one simple reminder. He settled her on the bed, and then settled on top of her, his hard to her soft, his heat to her cold.

She looked up into his eyes, dark with that heat, darkened for her, and she was dazzled by what she saw. Slowly, forever it seemed, his mouth moved to hers, a kiss, a promise. Her heart began to race at what he was asking from her. She’d done billion-dollar deals, but never had one moment scared her so badly. Blindly, she returned his kiss, pressing her mouth against his. Tomorrow she would rationalize, plan and internalize. Tonight was all about coming alive.

“Jamie,” he whispered against her lips. She pressed her face in the curve of his neck, needing to hide. Then she felt his cock against her thigh, thick and insistent, and she moaned in relief. Her legs slid open, welcoming him inside her. This she understood. He drove forward, locking them together. Then, with a hard stroke he began to move.

Again and again he thrust inside her, no hint of gentleness or reprieve, this was all about possession. With each thrust he was claiming her, marking her for his own. Her legs locked around his hips, denying him nothing. She rose to meet every rise and fall, pulling him more deeply inside her, letting her world rip apart.

Now was not the time for words, just the sound of labored breathing, the scent of his cologne and his damp skin. She needed to focus on the senses, rather than the mind. Let the hunger take over and consume her. Her fingers gripped his back, afraid of letting go, fighting against her climax. She didn’t want to come back down. She didn’t want sanity to return, so instead she bit her lip, welcoming the pain.
