After leaving the chorus line at New York’s Roxy Theater, Fran Warren became a featured vocalist with the big bands of Art Mooney, Charlie Barnet, and Claude Thornhill.

Her recording of “A Sunday Kind of Love” made the charts in 1947. Warren appeared at Beverly Hills shortly after starring in the 1953 Broadway revue Danny Kaye and The Pajama Game in 1954. She later toured with Harry James in the 1960s and landed the title role in the 1983 revival of Mame.

Quartets were the most common acts that appeared at nightclubs in the 1950s. Like so many others, the name of this one has been forgotten. This starlet was perhaps not quite ready for the camera in this scene. In the days before digital photography, there was no way to know how the picture would look until later.
