Chapter Twelve

Courtney asked Trevor if he could stay a little longer while she talked with Bianca. “Anything for you, C,” he happily agreed. Trevor has called Courtney ‘C’ since he’d started to care for her.

“Thanks.” Courtney smiled and rubbed his arm up and down. “Please show her to my office when she arrives.”

Courtney was just shutting down the computer when Bianca tapped on the door then let herself in. Courtney looked up wide-eyed and her mouth fell open. Bianca was pregnant. Courtney rushed over to get a closer look at her.

“Oh my goodness! Look at you! When did this happen?” Courtney was so overjoyed.

“About six months ago,” Bianca replied unenthusiastically.

Courtney wrapped her arms around Bianca and she started to cry. “Sit down.” She pointed toward the chair where her couples sit during their sex-therapy sessions. “What’s going on, Bianca? Why are you crying? I know you said you didn’t want children but I didn’t think it would affect you in this manner.”

“It’s hard to be happy under the circumstances,” she mumbled.

“What circumstances? Whatever the circumstances,” Courtney spoke in a baby voice while she played with Bianca’s stomach, “Auntie Courtney will help you get through this.”

“Courtney, please stop!” Bianca yelled, and pushed her away.

Courtney tried not to feel offended. She figured Bianca was emotional and overreacting because she was pregnant. “Okay, okay, calm down. I’m sorry. But we have talked a million times in the past six months. Why haven’t you mentioned this?”

“It’s complicated.”

“Are you not happy about having a baby?”

“Courtney, there is so much I haven’t told you, and I don’t know where to begin. Long story short, Rocko and I are no longer together. He wanted me to have an abortion so we could move forward in our relationship and I refused to do so. I know I said I never wanted a baby. Now that I am pregnant, I love my baby. I would never get rid of my baby, but I have been under so much stress because of my pregnancy.”

“It’s not good to be stressed while you are pregnant, Bianca. If there is anything I can do to help, just tell me,” Courtney begged her. She shook her head and started crying again. “Rocko will come around as soon as he sees the baby. I know he will.” Courtney didn’t know if she was trying to convince Bianca or herself. “Besides, we are all here to support you. Have you told Tiffany and Sebastian yet?”

“No,” she said, “they will be just as surprised when they see me Saturday.” She stood up to leave.

“Wait! What’s going on, Bianca? There is more on your mind that you are not telling me.”

“It’s nothing. I shouldn’t have come.” Then just as fast as she came, she left.

Courtney was baffled. She didn’t know what to make of it all.
