‘Okay, I know we’d arranged to go back to the little café on the beach, but I thought we could do something a little different, if that’s okay?’ Standing by the front door, a wide grin spread across Danny’s face.

‘Right…’ Tilting her head, she watched as he bounced from foot to foot. ‘What do you have in mind?’

‘Ah, I’d rather not tell you until we’re there.’

‘Why?’ What was he up to? Dressed in shorts and a T-shirt rather than the usual trousers and shirt, he was definitely up to something.

‘Do you trust me?’

‘I guess so.’ Squinting, Kim laughed. She did trust him, one hundred percent. Of course she did, but she also remembered when he had taken her bungee jumping as a surprise when they had been teenagers, and she was sure she remembered him acting like this then. ‘You do know that I’m too old for bungee jumping, don’t you?’

‘Of course! What do you take me for?’

‘Oi, you’re supposed to say I’m not too old for anything!’ Punching him on the arm, she pretended to frown.

‘So, you want to go bungee jumping then? That can be arranged. One moment.’ Holding up his index finger, he pulled his mobile from his back pocket.

‘No, no. Although I’m most definitely not too old for bungee jumping, we’ve been there and done that.’ Pulling his mobile away from his ear, she laughed.

‘It’s agreed then, you trust me.’
