When Soto returned to the presidential palace he was highly sexually aroused. This happened whenever he got excited about something; he believed that Juarez’s days as El Presidente were swiftly coming to an end, and this excited him.

The thought of Felicity Moreno in his bed had excited him, as well. Earlier he had told the plump cantina girl to wait for him in his room — in his bed — and he hoped that she was still there. For her sake; she had better be.

He was going to ride her very hard today, and close his eyes and pretend that she was the Moreno woman.

He would also pretend that he was El Presidente.

Both pretenses, he felt assured, would become reality before too long.
