â-Enoughâ¦Magâthen, Derraâ¦to me-â
The two stared at each other for a scant second before marching to where the new coming Elementals were now gathering. They formed a dividing line between themselves and those of the keep with 10 feet distance separating the two groups. Even those who were healed by Lord Robahn made their way to the new group forming behind that line. Then without preamble, the middle of the group began to split until it opened completely with the line opening like a flower. A statuesque female of roots and rocks stepped forward from among them. Deeply black earth made up the body with roots crisscrossing her entire being. The roots turned into tree bark by the time it reached the elementals shoulders, her head a crown of branches that were feathered with leaves near the tips. The Elemental's eyes shown a vibrant green that washed over sclera and pupils alike. Her face was both resolute and regal, as if she were born royalty. She stepped a few feet in front of her people with a staff that looked to be solid diamond in her right hand.
âMighty warriors who have joined us to defeat the Duregar, I am Eirani, Prefect of the Corrum Wilds! I ask who speaks for you!â
âMore political games?â KelâVan sighed inwardly.
She just saw both of the elementals arguing over me. She even chastised both of them in their minds. KelâVan didnât think she knew that yet, but between those two actions, it was clear she had an idea who the leader was for Brimstone Keep.
âOkay, Iâll play.â
The Herald stepped forth from among the crowd until he stood only a few feet directly across from the imposing figure of an elemental before him.
âWarriors of the Corrum Wilds who joined us in defeating the Duregar, I am Ulgo KelâVan Red Hand, Herald of Robahn! I speak for all who dwell in Brimstone Keep!â
The Elemental Prefect stood head and shoulders over KelâVan, but he matched her gaze as they measured each other. She nodded her head, impressed with whatever it was she was looking for in KelâVanâs demeanor.
âWell met, Herald. Many thanks to your god as well.â She then politely bowed her head toward KelâVan. âThere is much to discuss between you and I, Herald.â
KelâVan, in turn, bowed his head in the same fashion as the Prefect but decided to answer her more directly.
â-I agree, Prefect Eirani. There is much to discuss, and I believe to our mutual benefit-â
Her eyebrow arched very quickly but then, just as fast, returned to her normal gaze. KelâVan was not exactly thrilled to share that knowledge immediately. But he had already talked in this manner to the brown elemental who defended him. The Prefect was bound to find out anyway, and he thought it would be best if she knew upfront from him. If for nothing else to show his sincerity.
â-You are kin? -â
â-If you mean am I an Elemental, then yes, at least partially-â
It was an admittance that he begrudgingly had to accept for himself.
